Our love of alpine sports, includes backcountry skiing, ice climbing, and rock climbing, which we started in college, and we’ve been playing in the mountains ever since.

Alpine sports seem a natural progression for many of our athletes looking to branch out and find that next adventure. It has been such an organic process in our coaching business to include endurance coaching for a broad range of alpine sports. Our athletes have climbed Mount Everest, Denali, Mount Kilimanjaro, Machu Picchu and more. Rock climbing and back country skiing are also gaining huge popularity, and because we’re familiar with these sports and are participants ourselves, we’re able to craft training plans that make sense for these endeavors.

The principles that apply for endurance training for a triathlon or marathon, also apply in alpine sports. Beyond the technical skills, the fundamental skill that every alpine athlete must have is aerobic endurance. Our training will focus on raising your endurance to the level needed for any of your mountain adventures.

We create 4-week training plans that are properly periodized to ensure you are doing the correct workouts at the right time of year. This ensures you will have the appropriate aerobic base, muscular endurance training, threshold training, peak, taper, and rest periods for your goal objectives. The modality of your endurance workouts may include swimming, biking, running, hiking, climbing, strength training, or any combination of these. The training plans detail:
  • Modality, frequency, duration, and intensity of each workout
  • Day of week for each workout
  • Warm-ups and cool-downs
  • Strength training protocols
  • Stretching protocols

Coaching support via email and phone

All of our training plans are living documents because we know that life happens and we often have to alter the plans to accommodate. We get it. We work full time, raise kids, travel, and train ourselves, so we understand how difficult it can be when something pops up that you weren’t expecting. If so, we’re just an email, a text, or a phone call away.

Also, when you’re a Camelback Coaching athlete, we’re at your beck and call for any questions you might have. We can also review specific workouts using online systems like garminconnect.com.
