Apache Lake – one lake of four in Arizona S.C.A.R. Swim Challenge

Not many races this past weekend but one BIG one will do. Congratulations to Peter Lofquist who competed in the Arizona S.C.A.R. Swim Challenge. This event consists of four ultra-swims in local lakes completed in four days (Saguaro Lake, Canyon Lake, Apache Lake, Roosevelt Lake). Peter completed 3 of the 4 races (he did not complete the 17 mile Apache Lake Swim due to high winds and dangerous conditions).

Peter swam the 8.5-mile Saguaro Lake swim in 4 hours 30 min, the 8.2-mile Canyon Lake Swim in 4 hours 36 min, and the 6.7-mile Roosevelt Lake Swim in 3 hours 55 min. Peter will be racing Arizona 70.3 in the fall. Doubtful that the 1.2-mile swim there will even register as a blip on his radar.

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend at Tempe International, and to Adela Riehle, who is racing IM Texas!
